#rewiig is our very own “throwback thursday”-like hashtag, where we revisit (or rewiisit, if you will) previous work by Queen K-Wiig. And as I came across these never-before posted HQ stills of Kristen in her hilarious, but criminally underused, role as Courtney in Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later I thought it would be a great time to revisit that part.
Back in 2015, Kristen Wiig had a small role in Netflix’s limited series revival of Wet Hot American Summer. The series was based on the 2001 film of the same name, which garnered a cult following. In her all too short scenes, Wiig played Courtney, a preppy counselor at rival Camp Tigerclaw.
The show had an insanely huge and talented cast: Janeane Garofalo, David Hyde Pierce, Molly Shannon, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni, Michael Showalter, Marguerite Moreau, Zak Orth, A.D. Miles, Elizabeth Banks, Marisa Ryan, Amy Poehler, Bradley Cooper, Michael Ian Black, Joe Lo Truglio, Ken Marino, Jon Benjamin, Nina Hellman, David Wain, Josh Charles, Paul Scheer, Jordan Peele, Abby Elliott, Lake Bell, Chris Pine, Randall Park, Michaela Watkins and Jason Schwartzman.
As expected, Kristen made the most of her limited screentime and delievered some great moments. One of my favorite scenes is her overacting about how “Electric City is such a cruel place to live”. And, of course, her playing all the instruments and singing.
What do you remember most from the role of Courtney?
