‘Ghostbusters’ starts filming today!

Yesterday, director Paul Feig tweeted a photo of himself holding a cup of green slime, along with the text “And … action! #slimetimestartstomorrow”, which means that Ghostbusters is starting filming in Boston today! The Boston Herald has revealed a few details about the story, saying that Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig’s character then reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers (Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones), and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

The new Ghostbusters, like the original, takes place in New York City, even though it’s being shot in Boston. The movie is scheduled for a theatrical release on July 22, 2016. More will be reported from the set as it happens. Are you excited for this new chapter in the Ghostbusters-saga?
