Kristen Wiig at ‘The Great Gatsby’ after party

On May 5, Kristen Wiig attended the official after party for the screening of The Great Gatsby in New York City. The premiere was held to coincide with the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Met (which happened yesterday without Kristen in attendance, unfortunately). The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan (pictured with Kristen Wiig), Tobey Maguire (set to star with Wiig in The Spoils of Babylon), Isla Fisher and more. Kristen Wiig talks life after ‘SNL’ and hopes of directing

While attending the 2013 CinemaCon to present a first-look at The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Kristen also talked to some media outlets about filming the movie and life after Saturday Night Live and then Bridesmaids. We also learn that Kristen is just a few days from starting the filming for Anchorman: The Legend Continues. This probably means that she’ll only have a smaller role in the film, as they have been filming for some time in Atlanta already. Kristen Wiig, one of Hollywood’s most sought-after comedy writer-actors, revealed what may be her next ambition on Thursday: to direct.

At a press conference for the movie “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” about a man (played by Ben Stiller) who struggles to chase his dreams, Wiig said Stiller had inspired and taught her about getting behind the camera. “It was very inspiring for me to watch Ben [Stiller] directing and acting in this movie because I do hope to maybe direct something,” Wiig said.

It’s been nearly one year since Kristen Wiig bowed out of Saturday Night Live. After delivering weekly laughs on the iconic NBC late night sketch show for seven years, the actress admits she floundered a bit after she said goodbye. “The show was seven years of my life and a six-day work week and you’re constantly with your friends all day, all night,” she told Access Hollywood at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, when asked about life post-SNL. “You sort of live and breathe the show,” she continued. “Then, when it’s over, you kind of feel a little lost… it was definitely an adjustment – even just the hours and [no longer] being in New York.”

Now acclimated to her new routine, the Bridesmaids star has a multitude of films in the pipeline, including a role in Anchorman: The Legend Continues, which she will begin filming shortly. “I’m leaving in a few days to go film that. I’m so excited!” she said of the Will Ferrell-led Anchorman sequel. “I hope I can get through the scenes without ruining it by laughing! I’m so excited.”

CinemaCon – ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ presentation

As mentioned in a previous post, 20th Century Fox held its presentation of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty yesterday as a part of the 2013 CinemaCon. Not only was director, producer and star Ben Stiller there, but Kristen Wiig as well! The duo talked about the movie and shared 13 minutes of footage from the film. After the presentation Twitter blew up with buzz about a potential awards contender in Walter Mitty! If you follow us (to get all the latest news first!) you’ve already seen some of the quotes, if not I have featured some of them here as well. Video clip from Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards

Just as promised, we have added the video clip of Kristen Wiig presenting the award for Best Movie alongside Steve Carrell at the Kids’ Choice Awards. The award went to The Hunger Games, and Kristen was very funny while presenting. As previously mentioned, Kristen Wiig attended Nickelodeon’s 26th Annual Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday. She presented an award alongside Despicable Me 2 / Anchorman: The Legend Continues co-star Steve Carrell. The first 56 photos have been added to our gallery. Kristen Wiig set to present at Kids’ Choice Awards

The list of presenters for this year’s Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards were unveiled yesterday, with Kristen Wiig being on it! Other stars set to present include Sandra Bullock, Steve Carell, Neil Patrick Harris, Chris Pine, Jaden Smith, Lucy Hale, Kaley Cuoco and many more. This year’s host is actor Josh Duhamel. The awards show will take place this Saturday in Los Angeles. We will update with photos and video as soon as we can!

2012 Vanity Fair Oscar Party – Photo booth pictures

As most of you might know, the 85th Annual Academy Awards are taking place tonight in Hollywood. Unfortunately, Kristen Wiig isn’t scheduled to be part of the event, however there is still a chance that she’ll attend the famous Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the ceremony. Last year she attended both events, as well as posed with friends Maya Rudolph and Emma Stone (make a movie together, already!) in the Vanity Fair Photo booth. I have – insert finally – added the photos, along with a new one released just a couple of days ago, to our photo gallery. Edit: Unfortunately, Kristen didn’t attend any Oscars-related events.
