Kristen Wiig to Star in Amazon Movie ‘Desired Moments’

Posted on September 23, 2015 with 0 Comments

A(nother) new movie is on the horizon for Kristen Wiig! According to Deadline, Amazon is completing negotiations to finance Desired Moments, a Griffin Creech-scripted film that has Kristen Wiig attached and prolific award winning commercials director Tom Kuntz set to direct with production to begin in January. Michael London is producing with Janice Williams through Groundswell Productions, and they are looking to lock the male lead quickly.

The movie is one of Amazon’s first, and is set to be distributed theatrically before becoming available on their streaming service. Desired Moments is a dark comedy about Joe, a midwestern TV station employee who becomes obsessed with a bizarre wish-granting service he discovers on the internet. It has elements of the magical realism found in films by the likes of Charlie Kaufman, Spike Jonze and Michel Gondry. More on this when available.

Is Kristen Wiig joining ‘Zoolander 2’?

Posted on April 5, 2015 with 0 Comments

Another post, another question mark. Kristen really knows how to keep us guessing, doesn’t she? Pictures from the Rome-set of Zoolander 2 introduced us to a brand new character to the film this week, Alexanya Atoz. Despite being almost unrecognizable, rumors are saying that it’s Kristen Wiig playing the “fashion icon” in full-on prosthetic. Seeing as how Kristen has worked with both Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in the past, and is a fan of fun cameos, I wouldn’t be surprised if she joined the sequel for a fun and outrageous role. Here’s a photo from Zoolander-creator Ben Stiller’s Instagram account (and is that Katinka in the background?). What do you think? Kristen Wiig or not Kristen Wiig?

Very happy to announce Alexanya Atoz has joined the cast of #Zoolander2

Kristen Wiig to star in ‘Ghostbusters’ reboot

Posted on January 28, 2015 with 0 Comments

Here’s a fantastic piece of news! According to The Wrap (and pretty much all the news-sites on the Internet) Kristen Wiig will star in Sony Pictures’ all-female reboot of the iconic Ghostbusters!! She’ll play one of the four leads along with Melissa McCarthy and Saturday Night Live cast members Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. Paul Feig is attached to direct, which would mark a Bridesmaids reunion for him, Wiig and McCarthy. Feig himself tipped off social media to the potential stars by tweeting a photo of all four ladies.

Plans for the franchise first surfaced in October, when Feig said he wanted to stay faithful to the beloved original movies starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and the late Harold Ramis. Kate Dippold wrote the screenplay for the reboot of the iconic comedy, and filming is expected to begin this Spring. The new Ghostbusters will be released on July 22, 2016, Feig tweeted.

Kristen Wiig in talks for ‘The Martian’

Posted on September 3, 2014 with 0 Comments

According to Deadline, Jessica Chastain and Kristen Wiig are circling the lead female roles opposite Matt Damon in The Martian, the film that Ridley Scott will next direct for Fox. Penned by Cabin in the Woods helmer Drew Goddard, and based on the book by Andy Weir, it’s a realistic story of an astronaut stranded on Mars. These talks are early, and Chastain is apparently further along in negotiations than Wiig. The project sounds interesting to say the least; here’s to hoping that it’ll happen!

Kristen Wiig confirmed for ‘The Heart’

Posted on April 3, 2014 with 1 Comment

Remember when Kristen Wiig was rumored to star in an action comedy from the writers of the critically acclaimed The Descendants (and now directors of The Way, Way Back as well) about two years ago? Won’t blame you if you don’t. However, The Wrap has now confirmed her participation in the project, as well as provided us with a starting date and some casting updates! Jim Rash and Nat Faxon will direct Kristen Wiig from their own script, in the movie called The Heart, about a cash-strapped woman (Kristen Wiig) who agrees to transport black market organs with a man she just met. Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney are in talks to join Wiig, with production scheduled to begin in May in North Carolina. So excited for this film – Wiig in a comedy starring-role, great directors, a strong supporting cast, what more would you want? – can’t wait to read more. What do you think of The Heart so far?

Kristen Wiig in talks for ‘Nasty Baby’

Posted on August 15, 2013 with 0 Comments

According to The Wrap (via The Playlist), Kristen Wiig is in talks to join the upcoming drama Nasty Baby, alongside TV On The Radio frontman and sometimes actor Tunde Adebimpe. The movie will see two men (Adebimpe and director Sebastian Silva himself), who enlist their best friend Anna to help them have a baby. But when the sperm of one of the dudes isn’t working, the responsibility shifts to the other and problems arise. The picture will be set in Fort Greene, Brooklyn and will play against its multicultural backdrop, but even more, it’s lining up a solid supporting cast. Alia Shawkat and Mark Margolis are slated along withDennis O’Hare and Reg. E Cathey. Sounds pretty interesting, right? What do you think of the latest project?

Kristen Wiig’s profile in Hollywood sure has risen in the past year. And as we reported a few weeks ago, she’s meeting with director Rob Marshall for the female lead in The Thin Man opposite Johnny Depp. Now sources tell Variety that the director and studio view her as one of their top contenders for the part along with Emma Stone and Emily Blunt! Can you imagine Kristen being top-billed after Johnny Depp? So exciting, and so well-deserved. Really hoping she’ll get the part!
