The first footage from Ridley Scott’s The Martian was unveiled at the 2015 CinemaCon event last week. It was a hit with the crowd, who were wowed by the clips shown. The official synopsis have been released as well, read the full plot below. The Martian features a cast with many, many famous faces, including Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover. During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crewmates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible, rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.
Another post, another question mark. Kristen really knows how to keep us guessing, doesn’t she? Pictures from the Rome-set of Zoolander 2 introduced us to a brand new character to the film this week, Alexanya Atoz. Despite being almost unrecognizable, rumors are saying that it’s Kristen Wiig playing the “fashion icon” in full-on prosthetic. Seeing as how Kristen has worked with both Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in the past, and is a fan of fun cameos, I wouldn’t be surprised if she joined the sequel for a fun and outrageous role. Here’s a photo from Zoolander-creator Ben Stiller’s Instagram account (and is that Katinka in the background?). What do you think? Kristen Wiig or not Kristen Wiig?
Earlier this week, it was revealed that Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell had filmed a top-secret surprise for Lifetime’s 25th anniversary. The movie, titled A Deadly Adoption, stars Will Ferrell, who has wanted to do a Lifetime movie for some time, and Wiig as a married couple taking care of a pregnant woman, whose baby they plan to adopt. Their plans become complicated as the dramatic thriller plays out. Then, the day after it was revealed, Entertainment Weekly reported that they aren’t going forward with the TV-movie — because it’s not really a secret anymore.
“We are deeply disappointed that our planned top secret project was made public,” Ferrell said in a statement. “Kristen and I have decided it is in the best interest for everyone to forego the project entirely, and we thank Lifetime and all the people who were ready to help us make this film.”
Now, however, reports say that Lifetime is moving forward with the two hour film as planned, despite reports that it has been scrapped. Seeing as A Deadly Adoption has already been shot and is still set for a summer release, hopefully this was just a ploy to make the project top-secret again. Fingers crossed that we’ll be able to see the sure-to-be hilariously dramatic film on the cable channel this summer.
A couple of days ago, the very first trailer for Masterminds premiered on Comedy Central. To say that the film looks funny is clearly an understatement, so if you haven’t seen the trailer yet, be sure to watch the clip in our video archive right away. High-definition screen captures can be seen in the photo gallery, as well. Masterminds is rumored to be arriving in theaters on August 8.
The very first poster and production stills, along with a new set of on-set pictures from Masterminds have been added to our photo gallery. Kristen Wiig stars as Kelly, alongside Zach Galifianakis, Owen Wilson and Jason Sudeikis, in the comedy about a night guard at an armored car company who organizes one of the biggest bank heists in American history. As always, click on the previews below to see the new additions in the photo gallery. The first trailer and HD screen captures are coming soon, as well.
…and we’re back! So sorry for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been very busy offline, and with limited Internet access for the past month. But now, KristenWiig.org is back again! Expect quite a few updates in the coming days, to catch up on all the latest news. Here we go!
Kristen Wiig has joined the cast of The Spoils Before Dying. Maya Rudolph and Haley Joel Osment have also joined IFC’s six-part comedic miniseries, alongside the previously announced Michael K. Williams. Wiig and Osment also appeared in the first installment of the Spoils franchise, The Spoils of Babylon, which aired on IFC last year and earned Wiig an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress In A Miniseries. Currently in production, The Spoils Before Dying will make its television debut this summer on IFC.
Also returning in new roles are Michael Sheen, Val Kilmer, Steve Tom and Marc Evan Jackson. New cast additions to The Spoils Before Dying include Kate McKinnon, Tim Meadows, Chris Parnell, Emily Ratajkowski, Andrew Daly, Chris Mulkey, Chin Han, Jack Kilmer, Patty Guggenheim and Bérénice Marlohe.
“We couldn’t have asked for a more talented cast to usher in the sophomore season of this miniseries,” said Jennifer Caserta, IFC’s president. “We’re also thrilled to have so many of last year’s Spoils cast members returning for Jonrosh’s latest adaption, particularly Kristen Wiig who received an Emmy nomination for her hilariously epic performance.”
The official trailer for Kristen Wiig’s latest film, Welcome to Me, has finally been released! Seeing as the previous one that found its way online was the unauthorized sales trailer, we had to delete it from the site. But the official version is here now, which means that high-definition screen captures as well as the video clip have been added. The story of Alice Klieg, a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder who wins Mega-millions, quits her meds and buys her own talk show, is rumored to land in theaters on May 1st.
