Fantastic news, everyone! Kristen Wiig has received a Critics Choice Movie Award nomination for her fantastic work in The Skeleton Twins! The very well-deserved nomination is for Best Actress in a Comedy, and Wiig is nominated alongside Rose Byrne (Neighbors), Rosario Dawson (Top Five), Melissa McCarthy (St. Vincent) and Jenny Slate (Obvious Child). Big congrats to Kristen, fingers crossed for her to take home the award at the Broadcast Film Critics Association’s 20th Annual awards show on January 15th.
The Skeleton Twins is now available on Digital HD (Blu-ray/DVD release on Dec. 16), and I have added high-definition screen captures to our photo gallery! Kristen Wiig gives a phenomenal performance as Maggie, in one of her best roles to date. She co-stars alongside Bill Hader (also simply fantastic), Luke Wilson and Ty Burrell. Can’t say enough how good Wiig and Hader are in their roles, you should really watch the movie, if you haven’t already (then watch it again!). The lip-sync scene is definitely one of the best of the year. Click on the previews below to see all the screen captures in full size.
The films heading to the annual Sundance Film Festival next year have been unveiled – and like many predicted, Kristen Wiig has two premieres to look forward to. Not only will The Diary of a Teenage Girl screen in the U.S. Dramatic Competition, but Nasty Baby is set to compete in the Next<=> category as well! Hopefully Kristen will attend screenings and Q&As at the Utah-located festival (January 22 – February 1), and we will provide you with coverage from the events daily. Exciting news!
According to Deadline, Millennium Entertainment has nabbed U.S. distribution rights to Welcome to Me, starring Kristen Wiig. Also starring Wes Bentley, Linda Cardellini and Joan Cusack, the film first premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. The project, directed by Shira Piven from a screenplay by Eliot Laurence, centers on a fame-obsessed lottery winner named Alice. She decides to spent her winnings on a TV show about herself. Millennium is planning a 2015 release for the film.
“In Welcome to Me, Shira Piven has crafted an inspired film that features Kristen Wiig in a brilliantly funny and moving role,” said Bill Lee, CEO of Millennium Entertainment. “We’re so pleased to be in business with this tremendous group of filmmakers and look forward to bringing this very special film to audiences.”
