First photos of Kristen Wiig at the Emmys

Kristen Wiig did, indeed, attend this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards, held at the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Although she didn’t win her category (the Emmy went to Jessica Lange of American Horror Story: Coven), she looked absolutely smashing as she walked down the red carpet! Dressed in a custom-made Vera Wang, Kristen looked better than ever, and seemed to really enjoy herself at the show. The first pictures have been added to our photo gallery, with tons more being added throughout the day. Stay tuned for more!

August 26, 2014 Public Appearances

The 2014 Primetime Emmys are today!

The day is finally here, and so are the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards! As mentioned before, Kristen Wiig is nominated in the Lead Actress in a Miniseries or Movie-category for her fantastic work as Cynthia Morehouse in The Spoils of Babylon. To prepare for the big ceremony tonight, I have included a collage of her past Emmy-looks. Can you believe Kristen’s been nominated a respectable SEVEN times already?! Fingers crossed for K-Wiig to attend the ceremony tonight, and let’s hope she takes home the statue even more! Which previous look is your favorite?

Be sure to tune in to NBC at 8pm ET/5pm PT to watch the 66th Primetime Emmy Awards Live! If she does attend, we will be covering Kristen’s appearance at the awards as it happens on this site’s Twitter, so follow us @kristenwiigorg!

Kristen’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video

On her birthday, Kristen Wiig accepted Olivia Newton-John’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge – and here is the hilarious video. She got help from a guy named Justin, who poured a bucket of ice-cold water onto her head after Wiig, in her turn, nominated friend Dawn O’Porter (who filmed the clip), Annie Mumolo (Bridesmaids co-writer) and Kermit the Frog (naturally). Happy Birthday, Kristen Wiig!

It’s that day – the fantastic Kristen Wiig’s birthday! Today, our favorite actress, writer, director, producer, singer – you name it – turns 41. Congratulations, Kristen!! And what a year it’s been! Over the past year, Kristen has starred in three theatrical releases (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty and Hateship, Loveship), received an Emmy-nomination for her great work in The Spoils of Babylon as well as received rave reviews for her performance in the latest film, The Skeleton Twins. She has also taken her career a step further by announcing that she will make her directorial debut with the new movie written by Wiig and Mumolo (the team behind Bridesmaids), and we’re so (freakin’) excited! So once again; Congratulations on your birthday, Kristen, we hope you’ll have a great one, spent with your family and friends. Fellow Wiigies, feel free to leave your birthday wishes in the comments!

‘Welcome to Me’ to screen at TIFF

Great news, everyone – Kristen Wiig’s latest film, Welcome to Me, has been added to the lineup of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival! The movie tells the story of a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder who wins the Megamillions lottery, quits her meds and buys herself a talk show on an infomercial channel where she talks and creates segments exclusively about herself. This movie is a dark comedic look at our obsession with celebrity and narcissism. Directed by Shira Piven, the movie stars Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Wes Bentley, Tim Robbins, Joan Cusack and Linda Cardellini. Welcome to Me will have its World premiere on September 5th, and the festival runs from September 4th through 14th.
