I have added 250 high-definition screen captures as well as some production stills from Kristen Wiig’s guest appearance on Saturday Night Live. As mentioned in the previous post, she appeared in the opening monologue, as Kathie-Lee Gifford in a “Hollywood Game Night” sketch, introduced a clip of the late Jan Hooks, as well as musical guest Hozier. Just as we had hoped, Kristen Wiig appeared on Saturday Night Live yesterday, joining first-time host Bill Hader. Wiig first came out during the opening monologue and helped Hader to make his wish of singing come true. Then she portrayed Kathie-Lee Gifford in a funny “Hollywood Game Night” sketch. All in all, a truly hilarious and much-anticipated guest spot. So far I have added the opening monologue-clip to our video archive. Stay tuned for more coverage soon!
According to IndieWire, The Skeleton Twins earned $733,360 from 461 theaters in its fourth weekend. So far the dramedy starring Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader has grossed over $3.5 million. IndieWire said “Though the theater count rose with 46 new screens, the gross dropped about $500,000 this week, likely another victim of the successful Gone Girl and the holiday. Still, this remains a reasonable showing for the film.” Be sure to go see The Skeleton Twins – receiving rave reviews all-around – if you haven’t already!
I have added a couple of new pictures from Kristen Wiig’s latest film, Welcome to Me. The movie, which premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, centers around Alice Klieg, a woman with Borderline Personality Disorder who wins Mega-millions, quits her meds and buys her own talk show. According to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader’s dramedy The Skeleton Twins rocketed up the domestic box office chart in its third weekend, even with another flood of specialty film debuts. The movie placed No. 11 as it successfully expanded from 49 to 385 theaters. The critically acclaimed movie, directed by Craig Johnson, took in a strong $1.3 million for a cume of $2.4 million (last weekend, it placed No. 19).
“A big part of the film’s success is due to the fact that Bill and Kristen, as well as Luke and Ty, gave big support on the PR front. They did literally 20 or more talk show appearances between them, in addition to a ton of regional and online press,” said Roadside co-president Howard Cohen, adding that great reviews are likewise motivating people. Roadside said the feature had only a 25-percent drop in same theaters compared to the previous week. The Skeleton Twins, posting a theater average of $3,278, will continue expanding in the coming weeks.
Again, huge congrats to the team behind the film for their well-deserved success!
The critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing film The Skeleton Twins is released in theaters nationwide this weekend! The movie tells the story of estranged twins Maggie and Milo, who both coincidentally cheated death on the same day, then reunite with the possibility of mending their relationship. Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader plays the twins, with Ty Burrell and Luke Wilson in supporting roles. The Skeleton Twins premiered to fantastic reviews at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, and has continued the success in limited release for the past two weeks. It’s now available in 75 markets and 375 theaters, so be sure to go see it this weekend!
To promote the release, Kristen and Bill have appeared on several talk shows. Yesterday they were interviewed in a hilarious clip where the reporter hadn’t seen The Skeleton Twins and confused the film with another Wiig-movie (Welcome to Me) and their reaction is great. Be sure to watch the new videos in our archive!
